  • Your privacy is of the utmost importance to Respect Me. We understand that your health is a very personal and private matter, and we want you to feel confident that your personal information is safe with us. The privacy statement that follows discloses the privacy practices for Respect Me. We encourage you to read our policy so that you better understand our commitment to your privacy.

    Our commitment to confidentiality
Respect Me will not use or disclose your personally identifiable data without your prior authorization unless the use or disclosure is: (1) requested by legally authorized governmental agencies; (2) in limited cases, in response to certain legal proceedings; or (3) for use in emergency situations.

    How personal information is collected
Personal information (your demographic profile and your personal history) is obtained in several ways. It is generated as you utilize services and provided voluntarily by you through responses to surveys, questionnaires and use of tools on the website. We also collect information about you and your use of our site through the use of "Cookies." A Cookie is an element of data that we may send to the browser files on your computer when you link to the website. It is not a computer program and has no ability to read data residing on your computer. Nor does it instruct your computer to perform any step or function. A Cookie is simply a data element that allows us to track your usage patterns while visiting our website. This helps us serve you better on your next visit to the website.

    Disclosure of your personal information
With Respect Me vendors: Respect Me may disclose information to a Respect Me vendor for treatment, payment or health care operation purposes. Respect Me vendors are required, through their contracts with us or their governmental licences, to appropriately safeguard and protect the information, and will only use your personal information in the administration of the Respect Me product offering.

  • Respect Me Data Security
Data security is implemented in two ways, the physical and technical safeguards we put in place, and the operational procedures we adhere to in order to protect your information.

    Physical and Technical Safeguards:

    Security at network gateways: Firewalls
Firewalls are not an Internet security cure-all, but they are essential to any Internet security strategy. A firewall is a barrier between two networks. Firewalls examine incoming and outgoing information and, according to a set of rules defined by the administrator, either let them through or block them. Firewall policies define which parties can access the Respect Me network under which conditions.

Additionally, firewalls may be used to construct password-based access to areas of our network and may be used in conjunction with a web server and network security layer. Authentication with passwords at the firewall level determines which computer resources are visible to a connecting party.

Controlling access to the Respect Me website: Web Server
All access to sensitive information on the Respect Me web environment is password protected. Password control is used so that only authorized users can gain access to the site, and also guarantees that members can see only their own data. In addition, password control means that Respect Me employees and contractors gain access only to appropriate information.

Controlling access to the underlying data: Database Security
Sensitive information in our database is restricted. Only Respect Me employees, its agents and certain authorized vendors are allowed access to the database, and this environment is also password protected.

  • Operational Safeguards
Member information is also protected off-line. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job are granted access to personally identifiable information. Specific policies are as follows:t Me site may be included elsewhere within the site and are incorporated into these Terms and Conditions.

       - All Respect Me employees are trained on our security and privacy practices.
       - All new employees must complete a security and privacy orientation.
       - All servers upon which personal information is stored are kept in a secure, locked environment.

    Changes to our privacy policy
If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post a notice on our Homepage that we have made changes so that our members may always be aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under certain circumstances, and how we disclose it. If at any point we decide to use personally identifiable information in a manner different from that stated at the time it was collected, we will notify you.
